Things To Do in Florence
We have also put together a list of some of our favorite things to do in Florence for your travels before or after the wedding.
Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world full of art, food, shopping, and history. Whether you’re here for a day or a few, there’s something magical for everyone.
Must-See Sights
- Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore) – The city’s crown jewel. Climb to the top of Brunelleschi’s dome or Giotto’s bell tower for incredible views over Florence.
- Ponte Vecchio – A medieval bridge lined with jewelry shops and one of the most romantic spots for a sunset stroll.
- Uffizi Gallery – Home to masterpieces by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Caravaggio
- Accademia Gallery – The star attraction: Michelangelo’s David.
- Gucci Museum – Palazzo Gucci
Food & Wine
- Trattoria Gobbi 13 – Gobbi Rigatoni in red ink on the menu is really great. You need a reservation.
- Il Profeta – Aaron Farkas’ favorite. Everything on the menu is great. John Travolta pasta is famous. You need a reservation.
- Mercato Centrale – A foodie’s dream: fresh pasta, pizza, truffle sandwiches, and local wines all under one roof.
- Gelato stops – Don’t miss artisanal gelato at Gelateria dei Neri or La Carraia.
- Classic trattorias – Try Florentine steak (bistecca alla fiorentina) at Trattoria Mario or Osteria All’Antico Vinaio for famous sandwiches.
- Wine bars – Pop into a tiny enoteca for Chianti or Brunello.
- Trattoria Zaza – dinner spot across from Central Market that has options for everything, must try fried dough balls and Stracciatella, super popular place to go.
Pizza & Gelato
- Gusta Pizza – A famous pizza place that’s really good, delicious and casual, on the other side of the river though so depends on what you are doing, line can also get long so just be aware.
- Pizza Napoli – Courtney Farkas’ favorite pizza place that also has super great heart shaped pasta and is located in the heart of the city.
- Il Pizzaiuolo – One of Aaron Klevan’s favorite pizza places. You need a reservation for dinner though. It is a local neighborhood spot, not touristy at all. Also has other great options on the menu for dinner but the pizza is incredible.
- Pizza place at Central Market – Central Market is a really cool indoor market that has booths from a bunch of different food vendors. The pizza vendor is amazing. The Arancini cart is also great.
- Gelato – La Carraia – one of the most popular, authentic and lots of flavors!
- Gelato – Gelateria dei Neri – small but super good! Where many locals go.
Paninis
- Antico Noè – Aaron Klevan’s favorite. #4 is insane.
- All’Antico Vinaio – Very famous!
- Pinos – Family favorite.
Strolls & Views
- Piazzale Michelangelo – The best panoramic view of Florence, especially at sunset.
- Boboli Gardens – Peaceful Renaissance gardens behind the Pitti Palace.
